Entry requirements
Undergraduate
For entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes we'd look for 70-75% in all subjects taken at level XII and the same at level X. Marks should be particularly strong in the proposed area of study.
Postgraduate
For entry to Strathclyde postgraduate programmes, we'd look for a first-class undergraduate degree (approx 60%) from a recognised Indian institution.
Although 60% is a general entry requirement we understand that the marking system in some of the states and national universities make it harder to achieve 60%, therefore we will accept 55% from University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, University of Delhi etc.
Graduates from the IITs and IIMs will also be considered with marks in the region of 55%. If you wish to apply for a research degree you'd normally have to have a Masters degree and some experience of research work.
For further information on entry requirements, please contact our representative Christopher MacKay (christopher.mackay@strath.ac.uk).
English language requirements
If English isn't your first language, you'll need to provide proof of English language proficiency from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Our IELTS requirement is 6.5, however some courses may look for more.
Improving your English
If you need to improve your English to meet the language conditions of your degree offer, you can take one of our ELT English language courses here without needing to re-take IELTS or another English language test
Degree preparation courses
The University of Strathclyde International Study Centre offers international students, who do not meet direct requirements for a course, the option of completing an Undergraduate Foundation, International Year One or Pre-Masters programme. Upon successful completion, students will be able to progress to a degree level course at the University of Strathclyde.
