Work with usPeople, place & policy

As Scotland’s only higher education institution founded during the Scottish Enlightenment, the University of Strathclyde has a long track record of informing society and public policy. The People, Place & Policy theme benefits from the Strathclyde's areas of expertise and research centres, and our case studies show the impact of our work.

At the core of this work, the University’s internationally renowned public policy centres are working closely with government, and the public and private sectors, to:

  • improve our understanding of complex societal challenges
  • support decision making
  • drive business and economic growth

Improve and enrich human experience

We have a leading impact on policy and practice through our specialist policy related centres, including the Centre for Excellence for Children's Care and Protection, the International Public Policy Institute, and the Fraser of Allander Institute

We have broad expertise in public policy, especially on European and international issues, through the European Policies Research Centre. The People, Place & Policy Theme seeks to draw out the strengths in our core policy related areas, such as in Humanities, Social Science and Business, as well as the policy related activities in other parts of the University.

This area of work aims to bring together the broad range of Strathclyde colleagues and industry partners engaged in all areas of society and policy. We're building on the already active contributions to the public policy debate.
