The Department of Human Resource Management is an approved provider of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualifications. The CIPD is the professional body for HR and people development. The not-for-profit organisation champions better work and working lives and has been setting the benchmark for excellence in people and organisation development for more than 100 years. It has more than 135,000 members across the world, provides thought leadership through independent research on the world of work, and offers professional training and accreditation for those working in HR and learning and development.

MSc Human Resource Management

This programme can be studied full-time or part-time. However you choose to study, the programme will explore innovative opportunities for effective human resource solutions and considers the impact from globalisation, technological advance and changing workplace demographics in gaining sustainable competitive advantage from the management of people.

The course enables participants to gain associate membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (AssocCIPD). Upgrade to Chartered Member and Chartered Fellow is by direct application to CIPD when the required level of work experience and behaviours have been successfully achieved.

The programme brings together cutting-edge scholarship on global business management and international human resource management to provide a bespoke learning experience tailored to students looking to pursue senior roles that have a strong 'people management' element.

MSc International Human Resource Management

This course develops an understanding of how and why human resource policies and practices differ across the world and how companies address these challenges. The course will encourage students to think more practically about the skills required to manage in an international context. Subject to approval, completion of the programme will enable participants to achieve Associate Membership of the CIPD.

MSc Managing Human Resources (Oman)

This course offers students an opportunity to study organisations and the management of work. In studying the management of people, students will engage with contemporary ideas and arguments about human resource management and international human resource management within organisations. This will be further contextualised to the particular challenges facing HR professionals in the Middle East.

Students will be equipped to think critically about issues relating to the international context of the workforce in Oman and the wider region. The programme will also provide extensive support for personal development though the induction process, transferable skills workshops, team-building events, networking opportunities, and visits to organisations.

Certificate in Equality in Pay & Reward

This course is delivered online and consists of three modules. It draws on the theories and techniques of managing pay and reward systems with the purpose of enhancing the performance of work organisations.

There's the option of taking an individual module if you don’t want to study the whole course.

The course is of benefit to those who are:

  • developing or negotiating pay systems or other terms and conditions
  • already qualified or working within the general field of human resources, equality & diversity management and industrial relations
  • consultants, lawyers, paralegals or trade union representatives working within the field of equal pay
