Careers ServiceGraduates: five ways the Careers Service can support you

Our top five tips for graduates

Congratulations on completing your studies at Strathclyde! Did you know that all Strathclyde graduates are entitled to use the Careers Service for up to five years after graduation?

Find out more about the support we offer our graduates. Whether you are looking for work, further study, self-employment, professional development or still considering your options, we can help.

Here are our top tips for new graduates:

1. We help you plan your next steps

Whether that is deciding on your career direction, identifying your preferred employer or continuing with your studies our comprehensive resources and professionally qualified Careers Consultants will help you to reach an informed decision. Your degree is a passport to a variety of different careers and the Choosing your Career section of our website is a useful starting point.

2. We help you to develop an effective job search strategy

Knowing where to look for opportunities, and what type of graduate job would suit you best, is crucial to an effective job search. We have expertise in the graduate job market and provide resources and support to give you the best chance of securing the job you want. Check our Looking for a Job section.

3. We connect you with employers

We run employer-led events throughout the year. Check out the Events Calendar to find out more. Through our professional body we work with Graduate Career Advantage Scotland (GCAS) to provide opportunities for eligible graduates to gain experience.

4. We help you to develop your network

Get Started with LinkedIn is a short programme we have developed that will enable you to make connections that can help you with your career research and development.

5. We coach you through recruitment processes

We support graduates with all aspects of the recruitment process, including writing CVs, completing applications and being successful in assessment centres and interviews. Enhanced support and advice for neurodivergent and disabled graduates is available through our partnership with EmployAbility

You should receive an email from the Careers Service inviting you to create your graduate login. There are clear instructions on our website for graduates so do not worry if you forget to do this.

We look forward to supporting you whenever you might need us over the next five years!
