Where you can drink & eat in the Library

Drinks

You are welcome to drink in all areas of the Library except the Archives and Special Collections reading room on Level 5.

Please use a bottle or cup with a lid for all drinks.

If you have to leave the building in an emergency, please leave any hot drinks behind.

Sweets & small snacks

You are welcome to eat sweets and small snacks in all areas of the Library except the Archives and Special Collections reading room on Level 5.

Please respect your fellow students and the Library. Put any rubbish or recycling in the bins found on each floor.

Cold food

You are welcome to eat cold food and snacks, such as sandwiches, in green Group Study zones.

Hot food

You must not bring hot food in to the Library.

You can eat your own hot food at the tables in Flava Café, even if the café is closed.

Aura

Handmade deli rolls and baguettes, jumbo sausage rolls, vegan pasties, and delicious homemade curries. This café is in the Lord Hope building, opposite the Curran building. It has a seating area.

Starbucks Pod

Visit the Starbucks pod in the entrance of the library for a quick caffeine fix mid-study or chose from our selection of sandwiches, snacks, confectioneries, and cold drinks to keep you going.

Flava

Flava Café located on the ground floor of the Andersonian Library provides great tasting Neapolitan Pizza cooked fresh on site as well as customisable Sub rolls with a wide variety of fillings that can be served hot or cold.

What's in the Library?

Free cool water dispensers

Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5

Small plastic cups are available, but remember to bring a reusable water bottle or cup with lid with you and help us continue being a #GreenUniLibrary.

Hot drinks machine

Level 2

Drinks available include coffee, tea, hot chocolate and milkshakes. Drinks from this machine cost £1.60 each.

Vending machines

Levels 2 and 3

The machines on Level 2 are on your left-hand side as you enter from the staircase. 

The machines on Level 3 are in the social study space. To find them, turn right as you enter through the security gates at the main entrance. Pass the group study booths and turn right again to cross the glass walkway over the main entrance. The machines are on your right-hand side, opposite the open seating area.

Shops near the Library

The nearest shops are around 5-10 minutes' walk from the Library.

  • There is a newsagent on Taylor Place, just north of the Library.
  • There are small supermarkets, bakeries and fast food outlets on George Street, down the hill to the south of the Library.
  • There are several small supermarkets - including Aldi and Tesco - on High Street, to the south east of the Library.
  • Buchanan Street, Argyle Street and the surrounding areas are the main shopping areas in Glasgow city centre. There are lots of places to buy food and drinks in the city centre.
