Chemistry Centre for Forensic Science
We're internationally recognised as a centre of excellence in forensic science research and practice.
About us
We have a unique range of experience and expertise. Most of our staff combine their research and casework with teaching and professional activities.
We're actively engaged in research in forensic science (both forensic chemistry and forensic biology) and forensic practice.
Our research is directly related to the field and therefore can be carried out in collaboration with operational forensic science laboratories. It's also relative at a more fundamental and theoretical scientific level.
We've published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in the past 10 years in areas such as DNA, fire investigation, explosives, and drugs.
We contribute to the development of professional forensic science practice in Europe, with staff playing key roles in:
- The European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI)
- The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences
