We focus on developing tools for more effective decision support.

We build models to make decisions and solve problems, drawing on the full spectrum of management science and operational research methods. Our work spans from highly quantitative optimisation and statistical modelling to qualitative behavioural and problem-structuring approaches, including simulation and systems thinking.

Our interests are in providing holistic decision support and developing approaches to problem structuring, model development, data analysis, model inference and decision support. We focus on understanding what the real problem is, then develop models tailored to the specific decision context. Our research covers healthcare, high-value manufacturing, energy and sustainability, while also extending into finance, climate and other sectors such as AI.

Collaboration is central: we work with all departments within Strathclyde Business School as well as Engineering and Science, and alongside 15 UK universities and 45 international partners.
