Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences offers taught Masters courses in a wide range of topics, providing specialised training tailored to specific employment needs or research areas. Most Masters courses can be completed in 12 months of full-time study and consist of two semesters of taught lectures, tutorials and labs, followed by a summer research project.

The MRes is a research-based Masters degree that offers specialised training within Biomedical sciences. We offer a vibrant research environment for postgraduate student training and provide excellent research support and facilities for students studying towards MRes degrees.

This research-based Masters degree is designed to provide students with intensive laboratory-based training in research methods, supported by in-depth understanding, in various research areas such as biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, in vivo sciences, neuroscience and pharmacology.

The aim is to prepare graduates to make contributions, as individuals and members of a team, to research-oriented activities in the biomedical and pharmaceutical industries and related service sectors, or academia.

The course is also well-suited to students wishing to change field or gain valuable laboratory experience before employment or a PhD.
