Life presents many challenges which often impact upon an individual’s ability to lead a balanced and productive life both at their home and workplace. The University's EAP is designed to help you acquire the skills to deal with such problems.

The EAP service is provided by a company called PAM Assist and offers confidential independent help, information, and guidance which is accessed by telephone. The Helpline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to employees. It also allows for up to 6 face-to-face counselling sessions, offered at their Glasgow clinic or at a more convenient location.  You will also have access to an online resource where you can seek information and advice on a wide range of topics concerning work-life, personal support and health and wellbeing.

Professionals are available to answer queries on a wide range of practical and more sensitive issues. All calls are treated in the strictest confidence. The individual will be asked to quote the Company Name in full, in order to ascertain cover and support available. 

What is involved in Telephone Counselling?
  • All telephone counsellors are based in Warrington and are either accredited or working towards accreditation.  Following your initial assessment, you will be called back around 3 working days later and offered an appointment.
  • Formal telephone counselling works in the same way as face-to-face in that you will be called (like attending) every week for the sessions, which last about 50 minutes.  Telephone can be as eqally effective as face-to-face.

All PAM Assist counsellors have at least a Master's/Postgraduate Diploma level qualification in their speciality and are BACP registered/accredited pratitioners.

 

 

What is involved in Face-to-Face Counselling?
  • If face-to-face counselling is agreed at assessment, PAM Assist will aim to contact you within 3-5 days to arrange this.  Face-to-face consultations are normally arranged at our clinic by the canal in Glasgow or at a more convenient location.
  • On average, your first face-to-face session will take place within 5 days of your allocated counsellor being in touch with you.  There is a maximum of 6 face-to-face counselling sessions available or 4 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).  Each session will last 45-50 minutes.

All PAM Assist counsellors have at least a Master's/Postgraduate Diploma level qualification in their speciality and are BACP registered/accredited practitioners.

What other services can I access through PAM Assist?

You also have access to an extensive online resource where you can seek information and advice on a wide range of topics concerning work life, personal issues, health and wellbeing.

There is also a legal advice line where you will get free advice from a lawyer on any issues, and they partner with a debt organisation too.

PAM Assist can also signpost and support you with a host of other issues.
