Categories of external membership

You will find details of the categories of membership available to non-Strathclyde users on our membership page. This page also explains how to apply for membership.

Opening hours

Our opening times change throughout the year. Visit our opening hours page for the most up-to-date information.

Borrowing

External members may borrow up to five items at one time, depending on the membership category.

Where possible, we automatically renew items on loan for a set period of time.

You may reserve items.

We charge fines for overdue items.

Your Library account

Log in to your Library Account to check loan periods and return dates, place reservations and pay fines.

  1. Go to our Library catalogue, SUPrimo, to begin
  2. Choose the 'Login' option at the top of the screen
  3. Login with:
    1. your DS username and password, or
    2. your family name and library barcode, if you do not have a DS account
  4. Choose 'My Account' at the top of the SUPrimo screen, next to the Login option, to view your account details.

Library collections

Our extensive collections contain more than one million print volumes. You may want to explore our collections.

Finding items

Use SUPrimo Library Search to find material held in the Andersonian Library.

Visitor access PCs - to enable SUPrimo searching - are available on Levels 1, 4 and 5 of the Library.

Electronic/online resources

Most Strathclyde electronic information services are available only to Strathclyde University staff and students. Network access is possible only with a Strathclyde username and password.

Some external members may be eligible for walk-in user access.

External members who are not eligible for these usernames and passwords are limited to use of the SUPrimo-only computers. These computers have no access to electronic services.

Enquiries

The Enquiry Desk is on Level 3 (entrance level) of the Andersonian Library. Staff at this point can assist with all Library and IT enquiries. Our hours of operation are listed on our opening hours page.

Photocopying & printing

You can use create a guest account to print from your own device, or photocopy in the Library. Use the kiosk on Level 3 to create and top up your account.
