The best part of the course hands down was the industrial placement year, this year made me grow as a chemist. I did my placement in the department, meaning that I learned how effective research is in driving innovation for the modern world.

[My advice to new students is] Go for it, because you will get the best experience from studying to living in a new place. The city has everything to offer, and the university is one of the best in the UK. I advise you to use your time in exploring the city because it is very beautiful and has many hidden gems.

My advice to any new students would be to get involved in as much as possible. Strathclyde is a great university, both academically and socially. There are many clubs and societies to join, and I found this was one of the easiest ways to make friends.

Strathclyde is a university which has state of the art facilities, as well as the most supportive academic staff. What stands out to me is that the lecturers genuinely enjoy the subjects they teach and this shows through their enthusiasm and the time and support which they give to students.

[The best thing about Strathclyde] It's difficult to pick just one thing, but I will probably say the support given to students. You can always find someone ready to help you out. As an international student, living so far away from home was, and still is really challenging, but I found a new home in Glasgow and I am really glad I moved here.

I love Glasgow and being from here I wanted to stay in the city. The university has a very good reputation in all departments, especially with regards to my chosen course of study and is ideally located right in the city centre.

I chose Strathclyde because they offer a bespoke Bachelor of Arts honours programme which fit well with my study needs. What makes this programme different from any Undergraduate programme in Norway is that you can explore a combination of subjects that complement each other. This allowed me to guide my studies in the direction that I wanted.

My favourite part about studying at Strathclyde is that I have been able to meet the best people and made great friends, who are now more like a family to me. Our course cohort is small, consisting of less than 40 people in my year, so everyone knows one another and we always help each other out.

I really enjoy the teamwork aspect of my classes; I personally find working through problems as a group the most effective way to learn. Working in lots of different groups in first year was a really great way to get to know everyone on the course.

In my summer between second and third year, I completed a three-month summer placement in a precision manufacturing firm in Glenrothes. I gained experience working in the quality assurance, design, and engineering teams, and was given the responsibility to implement my own design for a training bay for the welding department.

I have been studying at Strathclyde since September 2014. I enjoyed the teaching and loved being a part of the community. I feel like I really bonded with Strathclyde and I just couldn't leave.

I really enjoy how much the students' voice plays a part in life at Strathclyde, as well as the various clubs, health and wellbeing projects, and the business network. There are so many opportunities for students here and it just feels very inspiring. You can really make the experience your own.
