Staff

The Risk Consortium is led by Prof Tim Bedford, Prof Lesley Walls, Prof John Quigley and Dr Matthew Revie, all of who are based within the Management Science Department in the University of Strathclyde.

Each member of the Risk Consortium has experience working with a range of industry partners. Members of the Risk Consortium have published four books and numerous journal papers on the subject of risk and decision making. They are involved in profeessional societies, including:

  • UK Safety and Reliability Society (SARS)
  • the European Safety and Reliability Associatoin (ESRA)
  • the European Safety and Reliability Data Association (ESReDA)
The team includes SARS fellows and chartered statisticians.

Over the years, a number of researchers have worked with the department – setting up a network of contacts throughout Europe and the United States. This has led to members of the Risk Consortium carrying out projects for organisations in Europe such as The Netherland Ministry of Water Management and the European Space Agency (ESA), and in the United States NASA and Valador.

The Department of Management Science has expertise in a number of different areas such as Problem Structuring and Mixing Methods, Strategy Modelling and Management and Operations Management. Other areas of research in the department include Systems Dynamics and Performance Measurements. Previous projects by members of the Risk Consortium have drawn upon these different techniques.

The Department of Management Science also have a number of full time researchers and students working in the area of risk analysis. At this time, Euan Barlow, Abigail Colson, Emma Comrie, David Hamilton and Seda Sucu, and a number of full-time research students work in this area. If needed and when appropriate, their expertise and knowledge will be drawn upon.
