In the Faculty of Engineering we have over 60 postgraduate taught programmes across our eight departments for you to choose from. The majority of our programmes are fully accredited by the relevant professional Engineering institutions.
Our growing postgraduate community includes 850 postgraduate taught students and almost 700 postgraduate research students.
The Faculty of Engineering is the ideal location to continue your engineering studies or embark on a research career.
Online Postgraduate Open Day - Tuesday 24th November
We will be hosting an online postgraduate open day with staff attending from each of our Departments, as well as a number of presentations on postgraduate study with us. You can attend the presentations and chat with our staff about applying for one of our programmes and about your future options. The event will run from 2pm-6pm on Tuesday 24th November 2020.
Our taught courses are offered as MSc’s (or MArch’s in the case of Architecture), but many can also be undertaken in PgDip and PgCert format.
PhD & EngD opportunities
As well as a wide range of PhD opportunities you can also choose to study an EngD with us. EngD degree programmes combine pioneering research and advanced skills training. This allows you to work on cutting edge engineering or technology research, and development work relating to real industrial problems and needs.
An EngD programme is different from a PhD programme as it is studied over four years rather than three and there’s greater industry involvement throughout.
We’re engaged in 11 Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs), giving you a varied range of choices when considering studying an EngD with us.
Flexible learning to suit your needs
Some courses can be studied part-time or by distance learning
We feel that everyone should be given the opportunity to learn, and so we offer a varied choice of flexible learning options.
Some postgraduate courses can be studied on a part-time basis, an option that allows you to gain the same degree in a different way.
Distance learning options are also available for some courses. Distance learning courses are hosted online, but have the advantage of real tutors giving you support through forums and live webinars. Distance learning allows you to study at your own pace, at times and places that are convenient for you.
Constant support throughout your studies
You’ll enjoy a full programme of support and training from the Faculty. Your studies will begin with a full induction programme to welcome you to Strathclyde and your new Department. A number of networking events, presentation days and programme monitoring classes are provided to give you all the support you need during your time studying with us.
You’ll also be assigned your own personal supervisor for the duration of your studies. We want to ensure that you have the best possible experience studying with us, and to help prepare you for your time following Strathclyde.
An international community
We’ve strong links with high quality universities worldwide. Our thriving programme of research collaborations and student exchanges attracts a large community of staff and students from across the globe. We have students from almost 100 countries currently studying with us, creating a truly international community for our students and staff.
