Institute of Photonics (IOP)
The Institute of Photonics has core expertise in advanced solid state and semiconductor lasers, neurophotonics, photonic integrated circuits, free space optical communications, neuromorphic photonics and optical computing, supported by state of the art microfabrication cleanroom and heterogeneous integration capabilities.
Ultracold Matter and Quantum Technologies (UMQT)
UMQT conducts experimental research in atomic and quantum systems. From fundamental studies of single atoms and quantum fluids, to next-generation quantum technologies, our work advances precision measurement, strongly correlated quantum systems, quantum computing and simulation, and light–matter interactions.
Quantum and Light-Matter Interaction Theory (Q-LiMIT)
The Q-LiMIT group combines advanced theoretical and analytical techniques with state-of-the-art computation facilities to investigate fundamental light-matter interactions, many-body physics, non-linear optical devices, and non-equilibrium dynamics of quantum gases.
Physics of Space, Earth and Life-Science (SEALS)
Our interdisciplinary research involves the application of Physics to real world problems in Space, Earth and Life Sciences.
Semiconductor Physics (SemPhys)
The Semiconductor Physics group combines studies of optical processes in advanced semiconductor materials and the realisation of practical optoelectronic devices.
